LOOSE LEAF TEA SET

After the Spring 2020 semester went online, my creamics class was re-geared to allow us to create with what we had in our homes. I found a stack of loose leaf paper from my elementary school years and was inspired to create a loose leaf tea set using the loose leaf pattern. I wanted to create the set using handbuilding techniques like slab rolling to contrast the orderly nature of the pattern, which would be achieved through nerikomi, but I did not have a kiln or clay to make this design using those techniques.

The final models were made using a cardboard base, papier-mâché layered on top, then finished with house paint. The papier-mâché pieces became works of their own, seperate from their representational function of the initial ceramic proposal.
